It is a legal requirement to register both cats and dogs in Queensland. This is done under your local council and will mean if you are a ratepayer in Brisbane City Council or Moreton Bay you will need to contact your local council.

Microchipping
We recommend all pets are microchipped, however as of 2009 there are now compulsory laws in Queensland relating to your responsibilities to getting your pet microchipped.
